Democrat Party secretary-general Juti Krairiksh on Wednesday challenged caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to reveal official figures in the rice-pledging scheme before she proceeds with a more much difficult task ― pushing for her newly-proposed "National Reform Council".
In an open letter to Ms Yingluck, Mr Juti demanded she reveal the profit and loss accounts of the rice-pledging scheme as well as official rice stock figures and packed rice for retail sales, saying taxpayers have the right to know.
He also wanted her to announce the actual rice export figures and accused the Yingluck-led administration of being Thailand’s first government to cover up the records. He said it was the reason the country was losing its rice-exporting leadership of 39 years.
