Protesters rally, send officials home

- +

Anti-government protesters on Friday afternoon surrounded the Phaya Thai District Office where local officials were making preparations for Sunday's advance voting and the Feb 2 general election.

Thaworn Senniam, a former Democrat Party MP, said the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) wanted the district officials to cancel their preparations for the polls.

"We ask you civil servants to stop what you're doing within 20 minutes and return home, or we'll lock the gates," Mr Thaworn said through a loudspeaker truck in front of the district office.
