Farmers set noon deadline

- +

Farmers have set a noon deadline to talk with the caretaker prime minister or they will head to the international airport.

Rice farmers from central provinces were still resting on Asia Highway in Ayutthaya’s Bang Pa-in district on Friday morning, waiting for caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to negotiate with them on payment for the grain they pledged to the government month ago.

A caravan of 700 farm trucks carrying around 5,000 rice growers began the journey to the capital on Wednesday.
