The Southeast Asia branch of the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has issued a statement expressing deep concern about violence between anti-government groups and police at Phan Fah Bridge on Tuesday.

The clash erupted as police were ordered to retake Ratchadamnoen Nok Avenue where anti-government Dhamma Army and People's Democratic Force to Overthrow Thaksinism demonstrators were encamped.

Five people – one riot police officer and four civilians – were killed and more than 70 injured.
