Fire destroys carts near Thaksin home

CHIANG MAI - A fire destroyed a building housing more than 160 golf carts early Saturday. 

Police said the fire took place at about 2am at Green Valley housing project in Chiang Mai's Mae Rim district. The houses of former prime ministers Thaksin Shinawatra and Somchai Wongsawat and their relatives are located in this housing project.

About 20 golf carts were left untouched by the flames. The cost of damage was estimated at over 50 million baht.
