A motorcyclist was killed when a bomb set as a trap was detonated as a police EOD team on its way to an earlier explosion passed under a pedestrian walkway in Narathiwat's Chanae district on Monday.

Pol Col Jumpol Nakapaksin, the district police chief, said the attack occurred as four members of a police  explosives ordnance disposal team were travelling in two vehicles to Nam Won village in tambon Chang Phuak, where there had been a bomb explosion earlier on Monday.

As they neared Dusongyo village, a bomb planted at the foot of a pillar supporting an overhead walkway was detonated remotely.
