A meeting led by a deputy chief of the National Council for Peace and Order resolved on Monday to scrap the plan to buy tablets for school children, effective in October.
It cancelled a pending purchase of tablets for all Mathayom 1 (Grade 1) students in the North and Northeast, but will allow the purchase of tablets for students in the Central region to be completed.
Led by Adm Narong Pipattanasai, the meeting concluded students did not need to have tablets of their own since they used them only 1-2 hours a day.
