Fishermen rally against mud dump

SURAT THANI - About 1,000 coastal fishermen and local officials held the first significant protest since the May 22 coup on Tuesday, to demand that a ferry firm based in Don Sak district immediately halt dumping mud into the sea.

The demonstrators walked through the town to the district office protesting a dredging contract commissioned to a contractor by Seatran Ferry Co to clear the channel at the ferry port.
