Electricity users to get deposit rebate

- +

Electricity users will get rebates next year from the money generated by the deposit paid for their power meter in the form of a deduction from their power bill, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) said.

The Metropolitan Electricity Authority, which covers power distribution in Bangkok, and the Provincial Electricity Authority will give rebates to households and small businesses, beginning in 2015.

ERC commissioner Pisit Soontarerat said large-scale users have already received refund benefits generated from the power meter deposits, and it was only fair to return similar benefits to low-end users too.
