Ratchaprasong traders launched their annual "grand sale" on Wednesday, to run until the end of August, to draw tourists to the area and with anticipated sales of around 15 billion baht during the two-month period.
Tourism Authority of Thailand deputy governor Wilaiwan Thawitsri said it is the 13th year the grand sale had been promoted.
Discounts were as high as 80%. The idea is to make Thailand one of top three shopping hubs in Asia.
