YANGON -Authorities arrested 15 men and seized the largest shipment of illegal drugs in Myanmar history, officials said Sunday.
The navy intercepted a ship near southern town of Kawthaung, en route to Thailand with around 2.4 million amphetamine-type pills that police estimated were worth up to US$20 million (639 million baht). "This seizure is the largest amount in history," senior anti-drug official Myint Oo said. Fifteen men including the captain were arrested and detained at police station last week, he said.
