The Finance Ministry plans to close the accounting book on the Pheu Thai-initiated rice-pledging scheme next month.
Finance permanent secretary Rungson Sriworasat said the ministry subcommittee overseeing the scheme's accounting is in the process of settling the profits and losses incurred by the programme, a signature policy measure of the previous government.
The rice-pledging scheme set pledging prices at 40-50% higher than market prices.
