Food and Drug Administration officials show more than 7,000 contraband lollipops seized from an illegal factory in Thung Kru district of Bangkok this week. Samples of the colourful sweets will be tested to see whether toxic dyes were used as ingredients. The lollipops were mostly sold at tourist spots including floating markets. Museum Siam workers sweep a floor featuring a three-dimensional pastel drawing by Kurt Wenner that represents a million people in Europe opposed to genetically modified crops. A young gharial with its long snout tied is put on display by Customs Department officials. The reptile is among 451 rare animals including miniature tortoises and soft-shell turtles that were seized at Suvarnabhumi airport on Thursday after being smuggled into the country from Bangladesh. Driver Arun Kaewwiset told police the vehicle's air brakes failed, causing the back of the truck to go into a slide and crash through the expressway barrier. There were no casualties.
