A ceremony is held before a relic of the Lord Buddha is brought from Wat Phra Kaeo (Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram) to the 11th Infantry Regiment in Bangkok's Bang Khen district for people to pay homage to it. The event is part of Buddhism Promotion Week, organised by the government to celebrate Visakha Bucha Day on May 17. Activities also include the delivery of sermons, a mass meditation dedicated to His Majesty the King and a Buddhism exhibition. There will also be a mass walkabout around the relic and the offering of alms to 229 monks on Visakha Bucha Day. The week runs through May 17 and the event is open to the public.
