Police move to retake protest sites

Hundreds of riot police were deployed in operations to reclaim anti-government protest sites including Makkhawan Bridge and Chaeng Wattana Road on Friday morning. Officers armed with shields removed tents belonging to the Network of Students and People for Reform of Thailand at Makkhawan Bridge, but attempts to clear protesters from Chaeng Wattana Road have been met with fierce opposition, forcing police to withdraw from the area.
