Akaryn Hotel Group is getting a foothold in the Asean market with the official launch of its first overseas property in the Laotian capital of Vientiane, scheduled for late this year.

The expansion will help increase its revenue by 20% to 750 million baht next year, said founder and managing director Anchalika Kijkanakorn.

The hotel, The President by Akaryn, will not only create a luxurious image but also set the standard when it manages hotels for the other developers in the future, said Ms Anchalika.

"We chose Vientiane because it is one of the best investment destinations after the recent improvement of transport infrastructure and an increase in international flights to the city. There are many short-haul direct flights regularly from Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing and Tokyo," she said.

The group expects The President by Akaryn Hotel will draw attention from international tourists in Laos on the back of convenient transportation links.

With 32 rooms, The President by Akaryn is located in a prime location in Vientiane's first thoroughfare, Setthathirath Road, with Parliament House and Haw Phra Kaew museum located nearby, Ms Anchalika said.

The luxury hotel was selected by the UN-led Asia Geographical Indication Programme as its main partner, in line with its sustainable approach to business growth and destination development.

Ms Anchalika believes that Akaryn Hotel Group will give back to local communities by helping local people to earn sustainable income and promoting sustainable tourism.

Apart from the overseas expansion, Akaryn Hotel Group will open two new properties under the Akyra brand, Akyra Beach Club Phuket and Akyra Thonglor Bangkok by the end of this year.

The 59-room Akyra Beach Club Phuket will be launched on Dec 3 with starting room rates of 5,000 baht per night, while the 120-room Akyra Thonglor Bangkok will also open within December as well.

Ms Anchalika said the group is eyeing to have its hotels in other Asean countries such as Myanmar and Vietnam, as they have a great potential for tourism.

It expects about 60% of its revenue next year will come from hotel operations and the remaining 40% from food and beverage as well as from its spas.

Ms Anchalika said Akaryn Hotel Group has positioned itself in the premium and luxury boutique category, aiming to attract high-income customers.

"Our brand is actually not in the segment of 5- or 4-star hotels, but each property can reach discerning and different guests, it depends on who are searching for their own personal unique experiences," she said.

She is confident that all hotels and resorts under its portfolio will offer guests a comfortable stay, good taste and a unique experience.
