At least 14 people have died in a tropical storm that has hit Vietnam after pummelling China.

The two countries are dealing with the aftermath of Storm Talas, which was accompanied by torrential rain and strong winds.

China’s southern island province of Hainan was hit on Sunday, before the storm later travelled west and reached central Vietnam on Monday.

A cargo ship with 13 crew members aboard sank off the coast of Vietnam’s Nghe An Province, leaving one dead and six others missing.
