Tainted booze kills seven in Indonesia

JAKARTA - At least seven people died after drinking contaminated moonshine in an Indonesian town, reports said Monday.

The victims fell ill last week after drinking liquor mixed with energy drinks and mosquito repellent in Kota Prabumulih on Sumatra island, according to police, the Kompas daily reported.

Dozens of Indonesians die every year after consuming home-brewed alcohol, often adulterated with a variety of toxic substances to increase its potency.
