SINGAPORE — Expect flight delays in light of enhanced security checks following the Paris terrorist attacks.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) issued the warning on Saturday and advised passengers to arrive early at the airport for their flights, TODAY reported.

SIA’s flights to and from Paris are operating normally but the airline asked its customers to check the status of their flights on SIA’s website or app as the situation is fluid.

SIA will waive re-booking or re-routing fees for those holding confirmed tickets arriving at or departing from Paris. The waiver is valid for tickets issued up to Saturday, for travel to and from Paris on or before Nov 30.

The country has raised its alert level in response to the Paris terrorist attacks.

In a statement released on Saturday, Minister for Home Affairs K Shanmugam said security measures, border checks and vigilance have been stepped up, according to TODAY.

“These attacks (in Paris) show that no country is immune, even when there is a state of heightened security”, he said.

Shanmugam asked all Singaporeans to play a part in keeping Singapore safe and secure. He encouraged everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or persons to the authorities.

“Such attacks aim to strike fear in the community.

“We must therefore continue to build up our social resilience,” he said.

This will also ensure Singapore will stand together, recover quickly and emerge stronger and more united should an incident occur here, he added.

Shanmugam offered his deepest sympathies to the victims, families and loved ones of the Paris attacks.
