Foreign affairs minister visiting Indonesia

Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai left Bangkok on a visit to Indonesia on Wednesday to discuss regional issues including problems in the fishing industry.

Mr Don was scheduled to meet Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, Maritime Affairs Minister Susi Pudjiastuti and Asean secretary-general Le Luong Minh.

Topics for discussion included an invitation for the Indonesian president's official visit to Thailand,  preparations for the 9th meeting of the Indonesia-Thailand Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation, in Indonesia, and comprehensive and sustainable solutions for fisheries problems.

Mr Don will also raise for talks with Indonesian authorities trade and investment promotion, boosting Thai exports of agricultural products including rice to Indonesia, cooperation on counter-terrorism operations and the promotion of the Asean Community.

He is due back on Thursday.
