US fine-tunes outreach as Burma votes

As Burma moves ahead with a controversial election Sunday, the United States is trying to fine-tune its policy -- maintaining dialogue with the military regime, but also stepping up pressure.

President Barack Obama's administration has made engagement a signature principle of its foreign policy and last year initiated talks with the junta, hoping to nudge Burma out of its isolation.
