Taiwan boats in disputed isle waters

Dozens of Taiwanese boats including six coastguard vessels entered territorial waters around bitterly disputed East China Sea islands on Tuesday, Japanese coastguards said.

A flotilla of Taiwanese fishing boats, against a backdrop of fireworks, head to the disputed East China Sea islands, known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu Islands in China, from a port in northeast Ilan county, on September 24. Dozens of Taiwanese boats including six coastguard vessels have entered the disputed waters Tuesday morning, according to Japanese coastguards.

"Tens of fishing boats entered the waters. They were accompanied by six Taiwanese coastguard ships," a coastguards spokesman said.
