Indonesia: US$37m of crude oil stolen

More than US$37 million of oil has been siphoned from the pipelines of Indonesia’s state-owned oil firm since 2010, a company official said.

According to the Jakarta Post, PT Pertamina, Indonesia’s state-owned oil and natural gas corporation, estimated that 370,000 barrels of crude oil worth more than US$37 million have been stolen from its pipeline in South Sumatra since 2010. 

So far this year, more than 260,000 barrels have already been stolen from the company, according to Pertamina president director Karen Agustiawan.

    From time to time the Coast guard catches small tankers with illegal oil onboard around Phuket...so maybe that is where some of it goes from Indonesia....(:
