to abbub, The extradition between states inside the USA is not that difficult. It happens all the times. The US Constitution has firm provisions it and of course there are some refinements over the years as various lawsuits have been ruled on by the Supreme Court.

When people divorce in America, they have to fight for custody of the children, it's a matter of financial survival since child support awards are so excessive. Maybe if the amount ordered actually reflected the cost of raising the child he would have paid it.

    facts_only - "$1 million, since 1996, is $62.5k/year. The average US salary is $43k/year.'

I'm sure there's 16 years of interest and fines on top of whatever he owed and that's how the number go so high.

That is an extraordinary amount of money. But I am surprised he could get deported for child support owed in the US. As far as I know people skipping out on child support can over just go over a state line to avoid it.

If anyone could explain this to me I would appreciate it.

In my own divorce 17 years ago, at court I offered double the amount my ex-wife was asking in child support. I regretted it afterward because for ten years I was paying and getting constantly hassled for more. I thought by showing good will things would go smoother. On the contrary, she must have thought I was a real schmuck.

If he would have 10 children and each would get 1,000 USD per month then 1 million USD is a payment equivalent to more than 8 years. That’s a lot of children and a long time. Maybe the BP can tell us why these children should get 1 million USD.

I wonder how many dead beat dads there are in Thailand who arent legally required to pay child support ?

  • Discussion 3 : 19 Dec 2012 at 18.423

Yes! The majority of "deadbeat-Dads" are good men that I am sure are willing to support their kids but the wives use the contorted "Family Law Court System" to confiscate all the kids, house, car, money and put the poor slob in debt for the rest of his life!

I know nothing about this case, and child support is certainly deserved. But why should a divorced woman get a guaranteed income to sit around and do nothing? I had a colleague whose wife ran off with another man, abandoning her children and leaving a note saying her husband could have them. However, the California court gave her custody of the children, their home and half of her ex-husband's income. To this day ex-wife has not married the man she ran off with, simply moving him into the house her ex-husband paid for. She knows if she marries, her free money will stop.
