Thai-Cambodia single visa effective Thursday

Thailand and Cambodia agreed on Wednesday to implement a single visa agreement, which will enable tourists to obtain one visa to visit both countries from Dec 27.

The visa would allow visitors from 35 countries, listed below, to stay up to 60 days in Thailand and 60 days in Cambodia. Tourists would be able to apply for the visa at embassies of either country.

The agreement comes under the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (Acmecs) framework.

Khun antitahaan, you are welcome to visit Cambodia any time!

You will see a lot similarity between the two country except Thailand is more modern!

Normally I am fearless but 3, just 3 things scare the hell
out of me - Dentists, Thai comedy movies, and Thai Immigration
in Jomtien, which I visit tomorrow with every paper issued to me
since I was 12.I then listen to the officer scold me while screaming
COPPEE !, COPPEE, COPPEE and wielding one or more of his 34 rubber stamps.
Finally after paying huge sums for copies, ( next door - Hmnn ? )I am
released from custody and I bow and say Thank you.

    @ Discussion 10 (mutley):

My Immigration Office is “Chonburi” on Soi 7, Pattaya-Jomtien.

I think you are mixing up some terms.

The prices you mention (THB 1,900 for a visa extension and THB 1,000/3,800 for a single/multiple re-entry permit) are correct, but in Discussion 8 you said “On an O visa one HAS to leave Thailand every 90 days”, which does not make sense to me.

I checked my last passports and (since I am living in Thailand) my original visa was “NON-O” (NON = non immigrant, O = other; compare B = business, Ed = education, etc.), not “O”, not “O-A”, and all my extensions are stamped “RETIREMENT”.

Disc.9. Are the rules different at your local immigration office? Do you know the difference between an 'O' and an 'O-A' visa? A normal 'O-A' visa costs 1900ThB but if you leave Thailand you have to pay 1000ThB for a re-entry stamp. The multiple exit/re-entry visa costs 3800ThB. If you have an extention due to being married to a Thai, you can only get a multiple after the first year. Unless you know someone of course.

    @ Discussion 8 (mutley):

What are you talking about ?

If you have got a NON-O (non immigrant “other”) visa and yearly extensions (e.g. for retirement), you never need to leave the country.

On the contrary, if you want to leave the country without losing your rights, you have to get (in advance) a re-entry permit.

At last. Something constructive. However, as far as foreigners who live in Thailand are concerned, the convoluted O and OA visas need to be sorted out. On an O visa one HAS to leave Thailand every 90 days so Disc. 1 could go to Cambodia anytime. For an OA visa one needs to have 800,000 ThB or pensions totalling this amount, then one only needs to go to the local immigration every 90 days. If you are married to a Thai, the cost drops to 400,000ThB but that cannot be done immediately and has to go to Bangkok for approval plus the fact that you cannot get a multiple entry visa for the first year. Who thinks these rules up?

Disc 4 onlyme, yes my visa is a years visa not a retirement one.I live her for 7 months and back in the UK for 5months with my wife. But i think after 32 years coming here every year i should like many others be allowed to stay for along period,ie 7months without leaving. In cambodia and Laos you can bye yearly visas and stay indefinately if youve the cash.

That's very great to strengthen and cooperate between these two countries. The economic would grow and both relationship would be strong. Both nation would be easier to make business and share experiences together.

Tomo, you do not have to leave the country if you have a proper visa, you only have to check in at an immigration office every 90 days.
