A city in Indonesia's Islamic law stronghold of Aceh will ban women from straddling male drivers on motorbikes, its mayor said on Wednesday, dubbing the position "improper".

An Indonesian family travels by motorbike in Jakarta, on May 20, 2007. A city in Indonesia's Islamic law stronghold of Aceh will ban women from straddling male drivers on motorbikes, its mayor said, dubbing the position "improper".

The move comes after leaders from the country's only province ruled by sharia law, drafted a series of new bills including banning women from wearing tight trousers, stoning adulterers and flogging homosexuals.

What the hell. If male muslim really are that good, their should be no any malice in their mind if they see a woman siitng astride riding in a motorbike. That is how to test their personal faith, if they can refused any temptation, well it goes to show that they are really carrying out thier being muslim. But thats only my personal point of views, Let them decide what's best for them.

Oops ! I forgot the obivious - the rear foot pads on either side
are for 2, ( two ), feet and bike owners manuels caution against
riding any other, ( side saddle ), way.

One of the few pleasures of a 78 1/2 yr.old male in Thailand is
seeing the leggy beauties riding astraddle and if they didn't their
shoes would fall off. No more sensually stirring then many tv ads
featuring exotic females and welcome they are - God made them that
way for several reasons and I am one of those reasons.

Look at the photo accompanying this article. There is a mother and daughter behind the father, what age does this "law" apply. When these rules were written motorbikes did not exist.

Stoning adulterers;they usually stone the woman and let the man get away with it as he was provoked.

Typical mentality of a franchise run by bitter old men.

"So what would the law be if the woman is the driver and the man is the passenger?" Women are forbidden to drive.

Its sounds like going back to the 18 th century sexist nonsense. Totally unjustifiable and unsafe the mayor should try it.Its ok until an emergency stop or a rapid change of direction.

So what would the law be if the woman is the driver and the man is the passenger? Would that be more able to provoke the male? Where does this stand in Islamic law ? Stoning adulterers and flogging homosexuals.
I wonder if the higher beings really wanted their followers to act in these ways?

Lots of girls who work in the Thai nightlife business come to work on motorcycles, and as far as I can tell almost all of them sit on them in a side-saddled “proper” position. The Aceh officials would be delighted. :)
