Sumo grand champs make New Year pilgrimage

Two sumo grand champions made their New Year pilgrimage to a huge Shinto shrine in Tokyo on Tuesday, pledging to work their hardest to make Japan's national sport a success this year.

Some 3,000 spectators gathered at Meiji Shrine to watch a tradition-steeped ceremony performed by the sport's two Mongolian yokozuna, 28-year-old Harumafuji and Hakuho, 27.
