Off duty or in duty it doesn't matter ! Chalerm is Deputy PM and he is one of the leaders of this government. Always he has to show a good behaviour esplecially to the young generation.

    Disc.38:

I know that Singaporean officials, after meeting Thai counterparts, often shake their heads in disbelief and have a few good laughs.

    antitahaan,

"What is the purpose of this article ?"
To inform people that a member of the government behaved inappropriately while visiting a foreign country. Next question.

The day I read about Chalerm being sober, I'll call that newsworthy.

He already declared war on drugs, crime, violence
    but apparently not alcohol !

Not true, as he made himself the "poster child" for AA (alcoholics anonymous)

When you are a public emissary, representing your country, at the expense of your country, in a foreign land, you are never ‘off-duty’. You are under scrutiny at all times. Sorry, but that’s the life you chose.

And drinking 1.2 liters of wine at one sitting is not a personal matter either; it’s medical emergency waiting to happen.

Finally, the Malaysian people have witness who Thai officials really are. One of his weaknesses which he used to hide before the eyes of the Thai people have finally unvieled in other country.

What's the problem, Chalerm has simply declared war on his remaining brain cells. Victory is near.

all this does is further lower the respect for thailand from neighboring countries and the rest of the world. sad to say, but one man made the whole country "lose face" in the international arena. you can behave like a degenerate in your own country as it is the "thai way" and your citizens have become accustomed to such ingrate behavior and accept it as "normal". when you are the deputy prime minister of a country - you are never off duty - especially when you are representing your country abroad.
