Second K. Rouge suspect hospitalised in Cambodia

Former Khmer Rouge head of state Khieu Samphan was admitted to hospital in Cambodia on Wednesday, a court official said, becoming the second ageing war crimes suspect taken ill within days.

This handout photo taken and released by the Extraordinary Chamber in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) shows former Khmer Rouge minister Khieu Samphan listening to evidence during his trial in Phnom Penh on December 5, 2011.

The 81-year-old was rushed from his detention facility at Phnom Penh's UN-backed war crimes court to hospital Wednesday morning due to "weakness, fatigue and shortness of breath," court spokesman Lars Olsen told AFP.
