Corruption in Myanmar is a bigger impediment to investment in Myanmar than any sanctions regime ever imposed on Myanmar. Unless and until Myanmar cleans up its act, companies in the U.S. or Western Europe (or companies that are simply listed on a U.S. or U.K. exchange) will be reluctant to invest in Myanmar because of the increasing aggressiveness of enforcement of foreign anti-corruption laws.

A very interesting and encouraging development in this young, emerging democracy. Would be fun to watch them overtake Thailand in effectively curbing corruption.
