Malaysia aims to attract skilled expats

Malaysia will begin a recruitment drive next month in a bid to attract more skilled expatriates to work in the country.

An expatriate services division will be established in March under the immigration department to help facilitate the arrival of skilled foreign workers and their families.

Ten-year visas are reported to be on offer to expats in the business services, oil and gas, finance, and education industries.

What a contrast with LOS ! Malaysia actually wants foreigners to settle, and not just their money. They are a progressive country. Can we ever imagine the Thai government following a similar path?
    Don't be so silly !!

My friend has a A-O visa, he pays every year 5000 baht (1900 for visa and 3100 for tea) for renewal. He is checking out Malaysia next month. Good bye Thailand.

D3 I was trying to make a joke, I also have to report every 90 days and waste half a day for a paper that now they don't even staple into the passport.

Malaysia's My Second Home program is more welcoming than here. I got my Singapore Visa and WP in half a day and that was it until I left.

Thailand is behind the curve , I think almost in last place now among ASEAN countries.

I have an o visa for 1 year but still have to report every 90 days, why can I not report to a police station or even report every 180 days, but to be honest if I have a 1 year visa then that's what it means a 1 year visa, I should not have to report at all, I think that the Thais try to make it as awkward as possible for expats to live in their country,

    Disc. 1

Malaysia actually wants us. That's why they have programs like this and "Malaysia My Home" to attract foreigners, especially Westerners.

Thailand does everything to drive us away.

But, I will say one thing, salaries for foreigners in Malaysia are much lower than in Thailand for those with skills and professional backgrounds.
