Rain, rally bring traffic chaos to Jakarta

A huge labour demonstration combined with torrential rush-hour rains to bring Jakarta’s notorious traffic to a standstill on Wednesday.

Thousands of demonstrators from the Indonesia Metal Workers Federation marched through the centre of the city from the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle to the State Palace, forcing traffic police to arrange a detour, the Jakarta Post reported.
