China jams BBC radio

LONDON - The BBC said Monday that its World Service shortwave radio broadcasts in English are being jammed in China in a deliberate move by the authorities there to cause "maximum disruption".

A BBC logo is pictured on a television screen inside New Broadcasting House in central London.

"The BBC strongly condemns this action which is designed to disrupt audiences' free access to news and information," the world's largest broadcaster said in a statement.

d3, that was during the AV, Suthep government.

d1, Why is it that no matter what the story is about you say some slurs about the current government or Thaksin?

Implications for Thailand: "Freedom of Information is the cousin to Freedom of Speech."

Both are required, not optional, if Thailand wants to grow as a full & free democracy & society. Focus on education & schools, beginning at the Primary level to teach this important truth: "I may not agree with you, but I will defend (to death) your right to speak..."

Still, Internet is the key. We are in the information age & filtering through it all, not getting it, is the challenge!

Last night I watch CNN, BBC, Bloomberg and CNBC. This morning I read the New York Times, Washington Post and BP on the internet, the same I would be able to do in Europe or the US. I see anti government opinions written by many posters and I haven't heard of anyone been arrest for that. Many commentators on BP would have been locked up if they stayed in China or Iran. Yes there are some sites I can't access and some views can't be expressed, but thats due to 1 law.

The scary part is that our Kingdom is moving in the same direction as China under the Puea Thaksin dictatorship.
