Now Thailand will learn what all of the other countries that are involved in fighting terrorism know, that terrorists do not want peace. They will start making demands that only benefit themselves and will return to violence when they don't get what they want. This approach has been tried countless times and has failed everytime. If they truly want autonomy then give it to them, cut off all trade, aid, travel etc and see how they fare then.

The analysis by The Nation made better reading than the long list of theories by academicians in BP. The practical facts are that we don't expect the agreement to have any impact on the violence as BRN is too factionalized but is a good start and a solid demonstration of the resolve to establish enduring peace. We hope that Hassan can convince others to join in this peace process. PULO has already expressed support. Also mentioned that Khun Sapae-ing Besar, an exile spiritual leader need to be persuaded to be part of the process but government has to wave immunity for his arrest warrant. Isn't this better than theories?

PTs whole approach to governemnt is a quick fix mentality .Quick change the rice price .Quick give everyone discounts to buy cars .Quick get funds for a quick train .Quick amen the charter to pardon my brother .Smart governemnt goes for long term sustainable results .Not quick fixes

Panitan with his hard-line stance fails to mention that the opposition party (PAS) in Malaysia get involved with the terrorists to some degree, but he is correct that this is the wrong step of the Thai government. The first step is to identify who really controls the separatist movement, otherwise; Thai government will negotiate with the wrong parties. The movement started when Thaksin government tried to eradicate illegal arm smuggling at the request of the then-Indonesia president, Megawati, because many arms used in Aceh were smuggled from Thailand. I know this information from my students from Aceh

"Only when the terrorists start bombing Bangkok and the PM's home, will they realise they have a big problem going on here"

And there's precedent for that, ie the reds in 2010.

When surrendering, it only works when you surrender to the right people!

Thailand does not have the willpower or manpower to solve this disater. Only when the terrorists start bombing Bangkok and the PM's home, will they realise they have a big problem going on here
