Authorities are building up security along the Malaysian-Thai border as moves continue towards peace talks to end the violence in the deep South.
The beefed-up security aims at preventing militants in the South from trying to find safety in Malaysia, according to a Wednesday report in the New Straits Times newspaper.
The police chief of Kelantan state, which borders southern Thailand, denied insurgents were actually crossing the border, and said the new security measures were "just in case".
