N. Korea hit by new UN sanctions

UNITED NATIONS - The UN Security Council on Thursday imposed new sanctions against North Korea amid escalating tensions as the North threatened a pre-emptive nuclear strike against the United States.

US ambassador to the UN Susan Rice (C) votes with UN Security Council members to adopt sanctions against North Korea at the United Nations headquarters in New York, March 7, 2013. The UN Security Council on Thursday imposed new sanctions against North Korea amid escalating tensions as the North threatened a pre-emptive nuclear strike against the United States.

North Korea can do whatever they want, no matter how insane it is, because they have simply nothing to loose.

who is to say that they need to have a rocket, after all there are a lot of suitcase nukes missing after the fall of the USSR. They might well have them in place already!

You also have to think of the mentality of the people, they did not surrender last time, in saying that they did not loose! From memory when it came to the battle they did better than USA, now they are fighting the decades long war on sanctions.

Why not just accept them as equals at the table and let capitalism take over there country like we have done with all the others to date. Time for peace and treating others as equals!!!!

What's in all of this for China? A simple phone call from Beijing would go a long way in fixing this problem.

I do not think the regime in Pyongyang wants to commit suicide, but that, as they must surely know, would be the result of any attack on the USA
