N. Korea won't invite US figure over jailed American

- +

North Korea said Sunday it would not invite any leading US figure to seek the release of a jailed American and he would not become a "bargaining chip" in any political negotiations.

People in Seoul watch a TV report May 2, 2013 on Kenneth Bae, a Korean-American tour operator detained in North Korea. North Korea said Sunday it would not invite any leading US figure to seek the release of a jailed American, adding he would not be a "political bargaining chip" in any negotiations with the United States.

"Some media of the U.S. said that the DPRK (North Korea) tried to use Pae's case as a political bargaining chip. This is a ridiculous and wrong guess," a foreign ministry spokesman told the official KCNA news agency.
