Kittiratt insists rice fund above board

Delayed crop payments blamed on political strife

Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong yesterday insisted there had been no "leaks" in the funds used to pay rice farmers for their pledged crops.

He said 680 billion baht had been allocated to rice farmers over the four crop seasons in the past two years. Every single baht was delivered to the farmers through the state-owned Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), he said.
