Trang school director accused of repeated student sex abuse

The director of a well-known school in Na Yong district of Trang province will be questioned by education officials and police over allegations of sexually abusing a 12-year-old male student for about four months.

Provincial education chief Chalong Poolsut said on Thursday that his deputy, a legal affairs official and an education expert who were considered impartial would question the director.

Five members of the youth's family have filed a complaint at Na Yong police station accusing the school director of molesting the student at the school on 12 occasions from May to August this year.

Mr Chalong said he knew the man, but they were not close and he had no information about the director's behaviour.

He promised to fairly investigate the matter and protect the student.

Pol Capt Sompong Soodchim, an interrogator at Na Yong police station, would also call the school director in for questioning, he said.
