PATTANI -- Two young men were seriously injured in Thung Yang Daeng district late on Saturday night in a gun attack by a motorcycle-riding assailant, police said.
Police identified the two as Tuwaeparid Kuhayi, 22, and Sakariya Chete, 22, both of Yala's Muang district.
According to police investigators, while the two were sitting on the roadside in front of a house in Charo Bongo village of tambon Tolo Maena, a motorcycle passed by and the driver opened fire at them with a handgun.
The two were hit and seriously wounded. They were admitted to Pattani Hospital.
Police initially believe the attack concerned a personal conflict and was not related to the insurgency.
