Pirated products valued at 10 million baht have been seized in three raids in the heart of Bangkok by Department of Special Investigation officials and representatives of companies with rights to sell the brand name goods.

DSI director-general Paisit Wongmuang said on Thursday the raids were carried out on Aug 31, Sept 8 and Sept 27.

On Aug 31, DSI officers raided a shop in Mah Boonkrong shopping centre and seized 1,455 falsely labelled brand name shirts and trousers worth about 1.3 million baht.  The shop owner, Pulaporn Puangchan, was arrested and charged with violating the Copyright Act.

In a raid on a shop in front of One@Bobay shopping centre on Sept 8, the DSI officials seized 3,297 pairs of jeans worth about 1.4 million baht.  The shop owner, Sukkij Suknanthaporn, was arrested.

On Sept 27, DSI officials searched a shop at Platinum Pratunam shopping mall and seized about 73,000 items with false brand names -  athletic shirts, underwear and socks - worth about 8 million baht. Chalisa Choksuwanraksa, the shop owner, was arrested.
