Five police officers transferred after casino raid

Five senior police officers at Khok Khram station have been transferred to inactive duty at the national police operations centre after a military task force raided an illegal casino in Bang Khen district on Monday.

The raid was made by a 52-strong force from the 1st Cavalry Division of the 1st Army Region. The casino was operating near a market on Soi Ram-intra 14. The soldiers rounded up 36 male and 83 female gamblers and seized 138,500 baht cash.

The casino is in an area under the jurisdiction of Khok Khram police.

National police chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda signed an order transferring five senior officers at the police station to the national police operations centre for an indefinite period, effective from Oct 25.

The five officers are: Pol Col Suriya Nakkaew, Khok Khram police superintendent; Pol Lt Col Khomsahas Thongkhamnithiwarakul, deputy superintendent for crime suppression; Pol Lt Col Panupong Jindaluang, deputy superintendent for investigation; Pol Lt Col Somkiat Duangman, the station crime suppression chief; and Pol Capt Yongyut Saenbunsiri, deputy chief investigator.

They were to report to the national police operations centre by 2pm on Tuesday.
