PATTAYA - A 40-year-old Australian woman lost about 40,000 baht worth of belongings to a motorcycle-riding couple who snatched her handbag on 2nd Road in the resort city in Chon Buri province late Saturday night.

Miss Zhang Xia, the 40-year-old Australian citizen who ran a software business in China, told police that while she was walking on the road for sightseeing and passing a McDonald's restaurant near the Alcazar Cabaret Show theatre at about 10pm, the young couple approached and the female pillion rider snatched her bag before escaping.

Lost with the bag were two mobile phones, 3,000 baht in cash, credit and ATM cards, and important documents including a driver's licence.

Police interrogated the victim and her tour guide and would try to find the suspects.
