Four of five suspects in rape of 2 girls in Pattaya arrested

CHON BURI - Four of five youths wanted for raping two teenage girls in Pattaya have been arrested.

Police investigators tracked down the gang and apprehended the four late on Tuesday night, Pol Lt Col Apithanant Wattanawarangkul said on Wednesday.

They were  identified in reports only as Pai, Ko, Ya and Keng. The fifth suspect, Boo, remained at large and police asked his relatives to persuade him to surrender.

The suspects were accused of raping two teenage girls after getting them drunk and then dumping them unconscious in the middle of Soi Sukhumvit-Pattaya 10 in Bang Lamung district on Monday night.

The girls told police they were relaxing on Kathinglai beach on Monday evening when the five youths, ridding big bikes, approached them. The young men persuaded the girls to drink with them.

After the girls became intoxicated, some of the youths took the girls to a nearby bungalow where they were raped.

Pol Lt Col Apithanat said police have applied to Pattaya Provincial Court for arrest warrants for the five suspects.
