The Criminal Court yesterday issued arrest warrants for 11 people accused of throwing flares during a football match at Bangkok's Rajamangala National Stadium last Saturday, police said.

Eight of them are seen in photos and the others are believed to be leading members of the Ultras Thailand football supporter group.

They face charges of possessing ammunition without permission and could face a maximum five-year prison sentence and/or a fine of 50,000 baht, Hua Mark police chief Sarayuth Chunnawat said.

Flares were thrown during the second leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup final between Thailand and Indonesia.

Thailand won the match 2-0 for a 3-2 victory on aggregate to claim the Southeast Asian title for a record fifth time.

Throwing flares in the stadium is not allowed by the sport's governing body Fifa and Thailand could face a fine and/or a suspension.

Meanwhile, Bang Kaew police in Samut Prakan yesterday said they had seized 1,950 flares from a shop in Bang Na.

It is believed the suspects bought the flares from this shop.
