PATHUM THANI -- A newborn baby girl was found abandoned in front of a house in a canal-side community opposite the Talad Thai market in Khlong Luang district on Sunday morning, police said.
Pol Lt Chaiyan Khunrak, a duty officer at Khlong Luang police station, said a team of police and rescuers rushed to the scene on being informed of the discovery at about 8am.
There, the newborn baby girl whose body was stained with blood, was found lying on the footpath. It was given first-aid treatment before being sent to Thammasat University Hospital in Rangsit area.
Witnesses told police that they saw a middle-age woman, whose face was not familiar to them, walking quickly past the spot before the baby was found.
