SONGKHLA -- A total of 2,260 suspects were arrested and more than 100 weapons seized in a crackdown on crime in four provinces under the jurisdiction of Provincial Police Region 9, Pol Lt Col Sakhon Thongmunee said on Monday.
The operation ran from Dec 22 to Jan 1 in Songkhla, Satun, Phatthalung and Trang provinces.
The 2,260 suspects arrested were involved in 111 cases - offences against property, individuals and the state.
Pol Lt Col Sakhon, the Police Region 9 commissioner, said the weapons seized included M16 rifles and pistols that some suspects said they bought in the three southern border provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat.
