The Phra Khanong provincial court on Saturday sentenced a taxi motorcyclist to six months in jail for hurling a rock at a school van in Bangkok.

Police from the Prawet district station arrested Abdulfarut Larao, 36, after a Facebook user posted photos of a school van with a hole in its rear windshield on Friday.

Facebook user "Yingyoung TN" wrote that the van normally carried her child.

Pol Col Thongchai Wilaiphrom, chief of the Prawet station, said Abdulfarut confessed he had thrown a rock at the school van in a fit of road rage on Friday morning. He did not know the van driver, he added.

The incident occurred as the van was carrying two students and two attendants. The rock smashed the windshield and hit the back of an attendant.

Abdulfarut was charged with damaging property and causing injury. Because he confessed, the court halved his one-year jail sentence to six months.
