B150m drug seizure in Samut Sakhon

Police seized drugs worth about 150 million baht in a raid on a house in Samut Sakhon during which the suspect tried unsuccessfully to escape.

The suspect, identified as Khamin Changngoen, sped off in his pickup truck when a team of police raided his house in Wisetsuk Nakhon housing estate in Muang district late on Sunday night.

Police opened fire at the fleeing vehicle, which skidded sideways and crashed into a police car, according to Thai media reports.

The 27-year-old suspect suffered a leg injury.

Five police cars were damaged during the operation, which led to the seizure of about 1.8 million methamphetamine pills, 1kg of crystal methamphetamine and 2kg ketamine valued at around 150 million baht, according to police.

The raid on Mr Khamin's house followed the earlier capture of drug suspects in Pathum Thani.
