Drug raids in 5 districts - one minor arrest

A 150-strong combined force launched raids on 13 locations in Bangkok shortly before dawn on Tuesday and came up with - one suspect, a pistol and 6 rounds, and a small amount of ketamine.

The force involved local police, 191 police, the Narcotics Control Board, and soldiers from the 2nd Cavalry and 1st Communications Battalion, reports said.

They raided a total of 13 spots in Phra Khanong, Suan Luang, Din Daeng, Yannawa and Pathumwan districts. The operation started at 4.30am.

At one of seven communities raided in Phra Khanong, Natthawut Chanmee, 26, was detained after an 11mm pistol with six rounds and 0.5 grammes of ketamine were found in his house, reports said. He was held in police custody for legal action.

NCB secretary-general Sirinya Sitthichai said the operation followed complaints made to the 1386 hotline about drugs being sold to young people in the targeted areas.
